ZIDANE vs MATTARAZZI

ZIDANE vs MATTARAZZI

Zidane headbutts Mattarazzi. Why? Are they wrestlers?

Hell no. They are footballers: soccer players of the highest ranking—World Cup Finalists.

Soccer is the New Age battlefield for nations. Germany brutally defeats Italy in battle decades ago; Italy retaliates on the field of play. Soccer in many ways sets the pace in human conduct. Kids pick up conduct quickly from role models they place before their parents. A questionable precedent was set which already enjoys distorted fun versions on the internet.

Certain issues were left ignored too long.

Who are the culprits? Are they equals? What went wrong?

B made seditious remarks which incited anger in A. What place has words in a silent game of action. A, the three-time FIFA Most Valuable Player was no equal to the infuriating upstart. Since actions speak louder, the credibility of the FIFA World Ambassador will precede that of the ‘assailer of words’.

Who attacked first, the ‘assailer with words’ or the headbutter?

Provocation by inciting statements has been recognized as serious enough crime to merit disqualification of a player from further engagement for life.

The pressure of a World Cup Final match is intense and serious enough in consequence to deserve no need for further distraction from the primary objective.

The act should be separated from the offence. The act was incited by careful premeditated devise to attack and misbalance the premium player. This is a high crime that runs contrary to soccer objectives, breaking the norm. The offending sight of the longest serving ambassador of world soccer setting the pace in ‘ninja tactics’ rings foul of all FIFA professions: to end that career on that note leaves a permanent mar, at that.

FIFA should clean her house up before terrorism finds expression and vent in her chase.

From racism to wrestling, what next in violent intrusions into the sport, stampeding or genocide?
